May 20, 2013

Sounds like home is busy busy as usual! Life in the Brimhall house-hold wouldn't quite be the same any other way haha, except that pretty soon You guys will just have bruce and the dish living at home. Weird. It's good to hear that things are going well. hey bruce you can tell holly jane I'll be praying for her;) Sorry to disappoint you Mom, but I most likely won't be getting transfered anywhere for the next few months at least. Elder Lopez is going home soon, and someone who knows the area still has to be here, and if I end up Training or being a district leader or something, then i will be here for at Least 2 more transfers haha. Oh, and to answer your question, transfers are 4 weeks from tomorrow. Capitol Hill is a beautiful place with some great views, so whoever told you that is right. But (not to scare you or anything) It's also got some really sketchy areas haha. I have heard of at least 3 people being gunned down in just my ward boundaries, just since i've been here haha. But the funny thing is that as a missionary you don't feel threatened at all to talk to any of the thugs and gang-bangers around here. They are generally pretty nice to us haha. It's the so called civilized people that are rude. Haha i had one of those "GET THE **** OFF MY PORCH!!!!!!" experiences this week haha. I just kinda smiled (I couldn't help it haha) and walked away, but my companion like frowned and said " We love you sir" (totally serious about it too) haha. Oh cool experience!!!! so Genel tried to quit smoking on monday and was really having a hard time. and was able to only have like 6 per day instead of the 24 she was originally having. She just couldn't go more than like 4 or 5 hours without one. Well on Saturday evening she asked me to give her a blessing. Yesterday after church she told us she hadn't had a cigarette since the blessing, and as far as I know she still hasn't smoked until this point! Keep Praying for her please!! The workings of God are surely being made manifest, but she needs ever ounce of strength she can get. Keep praying thank you!! Well that's all I've got for this week! Love you!!

Howdy!!

So yeah that was pretty exciting talking face to face for like 45 minutes yesterday eh?? You all say that I'm a sight for sore eyes to you, but you have no idea how much it is for me! I see people that i don't know all day every day, so there's no familiar faces cheer me up when i'm down or to distract me when I'm thinking about home haha. So yes, yesterday was quite a happy day for me!! Today is P-day, but it probably won't be eventful other than letters. I have like a zillion people to write today cause I'm so popular...haha just kidding. But really i have a few letters to write. Thanks so much for your input on what I asked you about yesterday mom, I really appreciate it. Trey I'm not going to do that thing I was talking about with you until your mission is a little bit sooner, but I do want to try it, and here's why. I always have been in this competition with all my sibling in everything we do, it's always a competition. Not this time. Grant was suppose to start missionary work for us, but i am suppose to learn from his experiences and be a better missionary than he was, and then i'm suppose to teach you all that i know so that you can be a better missionary than me, and since you are still home, you can begin teaching bryce  what we've learned so he can be better than all of us. this work is progressive, not competitive. And if sis goes on a mission she'll be the best of us all, but that's just because sisters are always the best missionaries haha. Anyways... so I'm not quite sure what to say since we talked on the phone like 18 hours ago haha. I miss you guys! Hey do you still have that CD of elder's Eyring and Holland talking about missionary work and the atonement? If you do, I want you to show that to Isabella, and you tell her that everything they say in there has direct application to every missionary who has ever been afraid. A mission is not easy, and it will never be easy, not for one second, but there will be nothing in your life that will build your testimony more rapidly and solidly. At least nothing in your life to this point. My philosophy on serving a mission is this- If you don't go, maybe you will regret it, maybe not you really don't know yet, but if you do go, you can count on the fact that you will never ever regret it. A mission is the best thing you can do for a struggling  or feeble testimony. And for a solid testimony, it's a guarantee to keep it solid. Sorry now I'm rambling, but my testimony of the savior's work, that is ministry and service in representation of Him, is so rock solid and all i want is for everyone to experience the refiner's fire that i'm going through. What a thrill it is to see the spirit work so strongly in someone that it literally drives the sin away from their very thoughts! I love you guys and hope you all have a good week! Seek the spirit daily and He will guide you in every aspect both temporal and spiritual, both emotional and physical. Much love and peace Fam!!

May 6, 2013...Birthday Week! 20!!

Hey hey hey!!!!!! haha mom you're too late! The news about your trip to BYU was old news haha Natali told me last week that ya'll were going to do that! haha. I will say, they are my new favorite people other than you guys! The've written me twice in the last few weeks and sent me an email haha. Oh and also just so you know, I did not get transfered and neither did Elder Lopez. We are both still here in Capitol hill for the next six weeks. It's his last transfer too haha, but he isn't trunky at all, it's like he just got out i swear haha so much energy. No we don't get along, but I'll just have to get over it. This is where God put me so I'll just endure whatever he wants, but it is really sad. Because both of us stayed, it's pretty much for sure that I'll be in the Seattle mission when the mission splits. I'll never get to serve in federal way or renton again :( Oh and also, i have no Idea what time I'll be calling on sunday. We don't get out of church until 2 either (3 your time) so It will most likely be after that. Not much happened this week with missionary work haha so I don't know what I can write about that. We've had a pretty rough time finding new investigators lately so our investigator pool is dying out. I haven't gotten the box yet, but I should be getting it tomorrow morning at district meeting! Tell grandma I say thank you for the extra cash in my account! I can't belive I'm going to be 20 and grant is going to be 23. We're all becoming adults now. freaky. We still all act like kids haha. Oh well, society is ever-changing. Adults will be kids and kids will be adults 10 years from now haha. Also Trey, don't think I'm ignoring you right now, I got your email and I am going to write you a handwritten letter back so that I can make it more personable than just an email. Hey I love you all so much and hope you have a great week! Hey and all of you don't get too caught up in birthday week with me and grant and holly and miles, you have to remember that it's mother's day week too k?? good. Okay love you so much! have a great week!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAlrighty then!!! (anyone catch that quote??) So first off, i did not get the picture of mallards on the porch. Lame! So as far as I know, Diane's baptism didn't go through, so I didn't get to go, but she'll get there, just keep her in our prayers:) Our car is getting some body repairs today, so we're just riding around with the zone leaders for today. This week was pretty good. Janelle and her daughter Eliana are coming along well. They are coming to church now and janelle wants to quit smoking so that she can get baptized! Sweet! Pray for her please! Thanks! Lena did baptisms in the temple???? YEAH!!!!! Tell her what up for me plz:) Tell trey I did get his email this and last week. Suggestions?? Well I have a couple. One pertains to mission prep, but the other pertains to this business with Natali thing. I'll give the latter first. That is really cool and super exciting, but as we learned with the tuxes, even family business can get far too heated way to quickly. Please be careful about that, and I personally think that the key for both ends is humility and submission. Now that doesn't mean give in to everything the other person wants, but keeping an open mind to others thoughts and ideas is an essential principle of life, especially in business. That goes for both of you ladies. Second, my suggestions on early MTC work is reading and activities. Read a lot from Preach My Gospel as well as the four standard works, particularly the Book of Mormon and the New Testament. Do the activity boxes in preach my gospel. And even though it's kinda wierd and awkward, do role-plays, meaning one of you is the investigator, and the other is the missionary, and the missionary has to find, and resolve the concern of the investigator using principles contained in preach my gospel and the scriptures. That will be great preparation! Gotta go guys! Love you much and hope you all have a wonderful week!!

April 21, 2013

Hey hey! What's going on dudes?? So I want you to do a couple things for me. First I want you to tell natali that now I will be extremely disappointed if I don't get a megaphone shout out at the airport haha. Secondly, I want you to get amber's mailing address form her parents cause she wrote me forever ago and I put the letter in my letter file and totally spaced writing her back. So if you could please Send me that next week, that would be great, thanks! Well this week was not too bad. We are finding lots of new investigators, the problem is that we end up dropping them in like a week because non of them want to commit to anything. But we did find janelle and her daughter eliana. Awesome people and will probably get baptised within the next few months! Oh!!!!! One more request! Do you remember Diane and Dwayne that I taught for 4 1/2 months in Feddy Way?? Well Diane is finally off of alcohol and is getting baptised this weekend!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have no idea how awesome that was for me to hear!!! So my request is that you can pray for a way that I can be there at the baptism. The only way usually is if I can get an investigator to go all the way down to federal way with me, but we don't have solid investigators right now, so please please help me out and pray that I can be there!! Thank you!! No I'm good with whatever you send me in the box mom haha. Thank you :) That's pretty much it for this week! Not much else is going on haha. But i love you guys and hope you have a great week!!

April 15, 2013

What is poppin?? I am doing alright alright! I love you guys and I thank you so much for your prayers and fasting for me, especially the last few weeks! They have been rough haha just because of the area and companion and stuff. Not that I don't like my companion, it's just that we have very different views on how missionary work should be done and that makes it hard to really be united in what we are doing. I got a letter from the Thompsons! They sound super awesome! Haha tell them they can write me whenever they want to, and I will probably write them back most of the time! As for my birthday.... if you really want my suggestions here they are: first of all you don't have to get me anything, let's be honest, a letter is most likely the only thing I can get for ya'll on your birthdays haha. Second, if you really insist, then at least don't spend a lot of money on it; Gifts are expensive anyways, plus you would have to pay for shipping. Third, it can't be big, I already cant even fit all of my crap in my three suitcases when i get transfered haha. So those are my suggestions :) On another note, you guys don't have to worry about me, things out here are rough sometimes, but ultimately the Lord is taking pretty good care of me! Keep the faith fam! I love you all so much! Hope you have a great week! Yo quiero ustedes tener un buen dia! Love you!

April 6, 2013

Hey guys! So to answer questions...yes I got your box and thank you so much!! It was awesome!!  No i have not gotten the other package from the Thompson family....very interesting I have a new family to come home to haha...the more the merrier! Yes I just haven't had any time on the computer the last couple of weeks, sorry about that. Yes please call Lena and tell her to write me, I was going to write them today, but I don't have their address written down. I miss that family a lot, so please tell Lena, Alicia, Asia, and Lui that I miss them very much!! This week in missionary work wasn't that great haha, bummer, but Conference was so amazing!!!!!!! I decided to make a short list of the talks that really touched my heart and taught me something good, but by the end of conference, I had 19 talks written down on my list haha. So good. Best overall conference I have ever seen! I want to say that Elder Holland's talk was by favorite, but I'm really not sure. David L. Beck of the Seventy gave an amazing talk on ministering in priesthood session, mom you should look that one up online. Elaine S. Dalton Portrayed young women in the most precious way I have ever heard. Neil L. Anderson and Russel M. Nelson tag-teamed missionary work like a boss. And of course our beloved Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson discussed thoroughly the extreme importance of exact Obedience. Jeffery R. Holland taught us how wonderous of opportunities are opened to us if only we will believe (which by the way, the story he used in the beginning is one of my favorite of all the savior's stories in the new testament). And then D. Todd Christofferson helped us to understand the importance of helping and redeeming others from their unrighteous, or sorrowful state....and those are only a few of the many talks which were undoubtedly inspired of God, and inspiring for me. What a wonderful opportunity it was to hear the words of inspired servants of Jesus Christ.  I hope you all have a great week and I hope to hear from you next week! P.S. I think a good Idea for ya'll is to pick a few of the talks from conference that inspired you, and watch them over again, and see what the lord is trying to tell you about your personal life. I love you so much!! have a great week!!
